Brother TJ Tondorf, is an alumnus of University of Richmond (VA Alpha) in 2008. He asked us to help spread the word regarding the middle school he teaches at in Northeast DC: Washington Jesuit Academy (WJA). He writes, "We are trying to raise awareness about the school and our mission as we celebrate our tenth year." Please take a look below and follow up with Brother Tondorf personally, if you would like to learn more about the WJA or how you can help.
Dear Brothers,
I am an alumnus of Mother Alpha (UR Class of 2008). Many of the traditions and lessons that I learned as a brother in SigEp gave me the confidence and sense of service to teach at the Washington Jesuit Academy. I served two years as Sigma coordinator at Mother Alpha and developed a rigorous program to help develop the brothers as students, brothers, and caring men. This energy has transferred to my teaching goals in my classroom where I strive to teach content and character education simultaneously.
The Washington Jesuit Academy is a school that fosters caring and committed relationships between students, faculty, and families. WJA is unique all male middle school that it runs eleven months of the year and twelve hours per day during the regular academic year. While WJA is a private middle school it is tuition free. The students come from low income communities and are only required to pay a small activities fee. The students are constantly encouraged to develop their academic and personal skills. All of the teachers strive daily to foster virtue, diligence, and brotherly love in all of the young men at WJA.
My hope is that you will take some time to visit our website http://www.wjacademy.org/ and learn more about WJA. After learning more about the school, please feel free to contact me at ttondorf@wjacademy.org or (781) 424-1727 if you have an interest in getting involved, learning more about the school, or visiting WJA.
Thank you very much for your time.
VDBL,
TJ Tondorf

Brothers:
The time is upon us for another year of our "Seuss on the Loose" reading program. For those of you who may not have gotten my email back in December, this program has been in existence for four years now and was developed to honor our Brother, Theodor Geisel a.k.a. Dr. Seuss, who was a Dartmouth University alum class of 1925. It also was designed to bring the magic of his creativity to area school kids. It is a simple concept, every year SigEp brothers from around the DC area get paired up with an elementary school for a mutually convenient day in the beginning of March and they come in and read Seuss to the kids. March 2 is Read Across America Day and is also Dr. Seuss' birthday. If you can spare a couple of hours, I can guarantee you will have as much fun as the kids! The SigEp Journal has written two articles about us; if you would like to see them just email me, I did not attach them so as not to prevent this email from getting to everyone due to an attachment.
Shoot me an email if you can participate. BrandtH605@aol.com
We especially need brothers who can read in downtown DC, the Boys & Girls Clubs of DC have asked for more readers at more locations this year and I would hate to let them down.
